Medical & Undergraduate Education

Overview

The UCLA Department of Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences is the home within the David Geffen School of Medicine for faculty who are experts in the origins of and treatments for disorders of complex human behavior. Through the Psychiatry Clerkship and Elective Courses, medical students gain hands-on learning experiences in psychiatry, spanning all age ranges and diagnoses, in clinics and hospitals throughout Los Angeles.

The Department is also an integral part of The Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior at UCLA which is a world leading, interdisciplinary research and education institute devoted to the understanding of complex human behavior and the causes and consequences of neuropsychiatric disorders. The Semel Institute via the Semel Academy works collaboratively with other departments and programs to develop undergraduate opportunities in education and research.
