Director, Postdoctoral Fellowship in Neuropsychology
Robert Bilder is the Chief of the Division of Psychology at the Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior, Stewart & Lynda Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital, and Department of Psychiatry & Biobehavioral Sciences and the Program Director for the Neuropsychology Postdoctoral Fellowship program. He graduated from Columbia University where he studied Biology and Psychology, after which he went on to complete an internship at New York State Neurological Institute at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center and receive a Ph.D. from the Department of Psychology at City University of New York. Dr. Bilder has more than 40 years of experience in clinical neuropsychology and research on brain and behavior. He came to UCLA in 2002 after holding faculty positions in New York at Columbia and Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He is Chief of Psychology within UCLA Health, supervises assessments of adults, and is particularly interested in neuropsychiatric syndromes and adult presentations of neurodevelopmental disorders. His current research focuses on transdisciplinary and translational research. He leads NIH-funded research under the aegis of the Research Domains Criteria (RDoC) initiative and is the overall PI for the National Neuropsychology Network, a multi-site project that aggregates data into the NIMH Data Archive and advances methodologies for clinical neuropsychology. Dr. Bilder also directs the Tennenbaum Center for the Biology of Creativity; the Integrative Phenotyping Center for Neuropsychiatry at UCLA; and Co-Directs the Mind Well pod within the UCLA Healthy Campus Initiative. When not at work, he enjoys cooking and hiking with his family, and attempting to play the electric bass guitar with more talented friends.

Dr. Karen Miller is a Health Sciences Clinical Professor and Clinical Neuropsychologist at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center and the Director of the UCLA Practicum Training Programs. Karen got her degree in Psychology from University of Arizona and received her masters and Ph.D. from Fuller Seminary Graduate School of Psychology. In addition to overseeing weekly neuropsychological assessments, she has been active in research at the UCLA Longevity Center for the three decades. As Director of the UCLA Practicum Training Program, she oversees 20+ psychotherapy/assessment tracks throughout the medical center, where dozens of graduate students receive training on a yearly basis. Her clinical and research career has focused on early detection of Alzheimer’s disease, mild cognitive impairment, and memory enhancement for age-related memory decline. In addition to her book, The Estrogen-Depression-Connection, Dr. Miller co-authored the curriculum and workbook for the Memory Fitness Program and was the principal investigator for the clinical trials of Dakim Brain Fitness, a computerized memory training program for older adults by Dakim Brain Fitness, Inc. Dr. Miller is the Director of UCLA’s Memory Care program and is part of the leadership team for the UCLA’s Brain Boot Camp program. In the past, she has served as a consultant to Dakim Brain Fitness, Inc., Erickson Foundation, and OPICA. She continues to serve as faculty advisor for the Universal Gerontology and Alzheimer's Disease Awareness at UCLA in their pursuit for developing tools and education regarding memory disorders and cognitive enhancement. In addition, Dr. Miller has received several awards, including: National Academy of Neuropsychology Award for Exceptional Educator (2013), American Psychological Association - Blue Ribbon Award for Research (2012), UCLA Outstanding Housestaff Teaching Award (2011), The Semel Scholar Award (2008), and the UCLA Outstanding Graduate Teaching Award (2006). Outside of work, Karen enjoys traveling with her husband and 15-year old son, creating Shutterfly albums, spending time with friends, and swimming.
